Review
A cracking episode with all our favourite ingredients - a weak stooge, an ally for Vincent who reverts from an initial scepticism, and a team of ruthless, resourceful aliens. All set in beautifully filmed desert landscapes.
All 3 principals are on top form and the direction is tight and well paced.Windom is particularly impressive as a sound man struggling with facts, and when Vincent is trying to convince him the scenes really grip.He makes a grand partner to Thinnes.
We learn a new trait of the aliens ;as Vincent is being kidnapped by 2 phoney agents from the Justice Department(what's that?), he shields his eyes from the glaring sun and gradually notices that they are unaffected by the glare.
Duggan plays a war hero weakened by the death of his son, and the ruthless exploitation of this by the alien leader is impressively done.
The plot is slightly weakened by Duggan's rapid switch from alien stooge to last minute hero, and we know the aliens are bound to fail, but there is so much else to enjoy in this episode.
In this reviewer's opinion, one of the best 3 episodes to date. Review by peter reynolds, submitted 2004-09-01
