Episode 15 : "Moonshot"

Summary

One of our astronauts is missing!

Review

Interesting how David Vincent is always able to worm his way into any airbase or military installation if it suits the purposes of the episode. Here, he gets into NASA with the help of Peter Graves, a troubled ex-astronaut with a secret. It seems the aliens are going to a lot of trouble to keep human astronauts from going on a certain moon landing -- there's something up there they don't want us to see. So they assassinate two astronauts in a very obvious way (too obvious, if you ask me -- there's a witness) and they go to great lengths to plant one of their own as a member of the crew. Graves gets suspicious and asks Vincent for help. Before you know it, an alien incineration device is placed in Graves' car, and Graves narrowly misses getting burned up. At this rate, David's cadre of "Believers" is growing fast enough that the episode of the same name could have come along in half the time! There's an interesting scene where an alien fakes having a heartbeat so he can pass a NASA physical. But I didn't really buy the ending, as suspenseful as it was, in which Joanne Linville as the astronaut's wife was able to call Mission Control and stop the launch merely because she thought "that's not my husband."
