Episode 14 : "Panic"

Summary
The strongest thing about this episode is Robert Walker's performance (he was brilliant as "Charlie X" in Star Trek also)
Review
In this episode, David Vincent applies correlation analysis to a series of inexplicable events in a logical fashion of which Mr. Spock would be proud. "The Pursued" would have perhaps been a better name for this episode, were it not for the fact that another Invaders episode bears this name. The main character "Nick" tries to flee both his own kind and those from another race, whilst attempting to win support with a series of convincing lies which nearly everyone seems to swallow except for David Vincent. Madeleine's dog seems to be the only other one to be deeply suspicious.
There are several leaps in the episode which rather strain the continuity, such as a sudden switch to David's being on firstname terms with Madeleine's father, and Gus's sudden switch from a freeloader to a model citizen. Madeleine starts out trusting no-one, but is won over by Nick's persuasive story regarding being wrongly accused of a crime (David being unable to contradict this story without supplying one which would be harder to believe). David seems remarkably unphased by these constantly changing attitudes around him, and sometimes seems less human than some of the aliens in this respect.Review by Richard Fincher, submitted 2002-06-30
